Following are some suggestions, but please pray as the Spirit leads for the Spirit, Soul and Body:

For Protection from Satan

In light of the challenges of ministry especially when moving in to the calling God has for CF concerning the 400, there has been some attacks that need prayer. Especially for the Pastors, but also for the elders and staff. As the word says in 1Peter 5:8 we need to be praying for protection from Satan in such a time as this more than any! “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour”. And we all know,he comes to kill, steal and destroy Spirit, Soul and Body.

Father, please protect our pastors, elders and staff from the attacks of Satan. Give them the strength to endure temptation and stand firm against the accusations Satan loves to whisper in their ears. Help them to stand firm in your service, always fighting for the faith and for the church body.

Please Pray For A Healthy Physical Body

But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified (1 Corinthians 9:27).

Ministry can take a tremendous toll on the pastor’s, elders and staff’s body in this time of change. Yes, our bodies are temples, but they are often broken temples. Long nights at the hospital, high-stress situations, and ever-present discouragement can quickly lead to burnout and body betrayal. Not only do we need spiritual strength, we need physical strength as well. Pray for your pastors, elders and staff that they would be sustained in body and mind.

Father, please give my pastorals supernatural strength. Protect them from sickness and disease. Give them your energy to keep serving faithfully. Help them to find periods of rest and recovery. Guide them to still waters.

For A Strong Marriage and Family

Therefore, an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church(1 Timothy 3:2-6)

Church history is littered with the skeletons of pastors, elders and church staff whose marriages and families fell apart under the strain of pastoral ministry. Especially Pastors, and as 1 Timothy states, if a pastor can’t manage his family, how can he manage the church of God? Satan loves to sabotage a pastor’s family, and your pastor needs prayer that God will give him a healthy marriage and family.

Father, please give our pastors, elders and staff supernaturally healthy marriages. Strengthen the bonds between them and their wives. Encourage them all in ministry. Give them all wisdom to manage their family and to keep you at the center, not ministry. Also pray for their children that you would let them know you and follow you.

Sustained By Prayer

1Thessalonians5:25 “Brethren, pray for us”.

In some ways, pastors are sustained by the prayers of their people. Obviously, God is the one who ultimately sustains pastors, but one of his primary means is through the prayers for pastors.

When it comes to why you should pray for your pastors, take the words of Charles Spurgeon to heart:

No man can do me a truer kindness in this world than to pray for me.

Do your pastors and their families a true kindness today! And please also pray for the elder board and staff.
