Mission Trip to Haiti

February 8-15, 2017

This Sunday, February 19th, the team will be reporting on the trip in a special 90-minute service from 10:30-12:00, followed by a "Ladle & Loaf" fellowship lunch. MISSION TRIP DETAILS

February 8-15, 2017

Destination: Mirebalais, Haiti (A rural community in the mountains, approximately one hour northeast of Port-Au-Prince) Haitian Contact: Pastor Lesly Bertrand, bishop of Assemblée de la Grâce

Trip Purpose: To support Pastor Lesly and build relationships with others in the community, to provide funds for and do necessary construction work on various ministry buildings, to assist in their growing ministry however necessary.

Trip Climate: Haiti is hot and humid, temperatures average from 70-110 degrees. We will be traveling during the “dry season” which means less rain than usual. We will travel in the back of a truck that is open to the air and stay in a building not equipped with air conditioning but does have fans.

Accommodations/Safety: The team will stay in a Mission house in Mirebalais, specifically for mission teams.

    • Dormitory style rooms with others of the same gender, bunk style twin bed with a mosquito net.

    • One bathroom will be shared among our entire group and the Haitians serving us.

    • Running water is intermittent, showers may consist of a bucket of cold water.

    • Security measures at the guest house include razor wire fencing, security guards and locked metal doors.

Dress Code: *All shorts must be knee-length, no shorter.

    • Men: Dress pants, shoes, and collared shirt for church services. Shorts, T-shirts and sandals are acceptable for travel, work, and outreach. Sleeveless shirts are OK. no tank tops or muscle shirts.

    • Women: Skirt or dress for church services, sandals are ok. Shorts and capris are acceptable for work, travel and outreach. Modest T-shirts and sleeveless shirts are OK. No spaghetti straps or low cut tops.
